Understanding Hypnobirthing

Updated: Jul 15, 2020

No matter how you birth your baby, feel calm and safe with hypnobirthing

Welcome to The Art of Hypnobirthing!

Hypnobirthing is a whole-body experience where a woman and her birthing partner is given the tools to control the breath, body sensation, emotion and cognition during her birth. Hypnobirthing empowers woman to accept her natural instincts and sensations during labour to birth without fear.

Studies have shown that hypnosis and self-hypnosis during childbirth may leads to:

  • Decreased average length of labour

  • lower cesarean section rates

  • decreased use of pain relief medication such as gas and epidurals

  • increased ease and comfort of labour and birth (self-reported and observed)

  • The emotional satisfaction of having their birthing partners informed, involved and supportive.

The course can be learnt at any stage in your pregnancy and in conjunction with hospital based antenatal classes to help you feel more prepared and in control of your birth experience. You and your birth partner will be provided with a seminar, hypnosis tools, mp3s, written materials and resources to help you feel informed and prepared prior to birth.

No matter how your baby is born, feel calm and safe with hypnobirthing.

The practice of hypnosis puts the willing participant in a meditative state and when you are finished, you will feel calm, relaxed and happy. It is an enjoyable, fun, experience that adopts principles of birthing that have been practiced for a long time. The techniques work with your body to release happy endorphins that allow birth to progress as nature intended. You may not know it, but your body has automatic physiological reactions to labour that allows you to birth without any knowledge whatsoever. Hypnobirthing is letting go of what you think your labour should look like and celebrating it for everything that it is. Let go of your fears, trust your body and you will fall in love with labour.
